Greetings, everybody! 🎉 I am thrilled to share the exhilarating tale of my recent triumph — conquering an inaugural 10km marathon. Was it an enjoyable experience? Undoubtedly. Was it a cakewalk? Far from it! Around the 7km mark, my hamstring decided to stage a protest, but with determination as my ally, I powered through, and the sensation of crossing that finish line was nothing short of euphoric.

Post-run revelation — no abdominal pain whatsoever which was my biggest fear before the run. Well now I can unofficially crown myself a fitness unicorn! The reason for abdominal pain is usually high amount of fat layers in the abdomen, therefore the absence of pain is absolutely a relief and testament that I am actually fit. Prior to plunging into the marathon madness, the past five months were dedicated to relentless gym sessions, nurturing this remarkable vessel of mine. It has been a journey marked by self-care and diligent muscle-building . And as I progresses further into that journey , it demanded a monumental challenge to prove its worth. Well, that’s the obvious reason I decided to get into this 10km run.

Running transcends mere sport; it’s a lifestyle, albeit one that can get a tad expensive. Approximately $150 was invested in acquiring top-tier running shoes and a running pouch. This pouch, akin to a trusty sidekick, cradled my essentials like my phone, car keys, and two 500ml water bottles, ensuring I was prepared for any unexpected moments. While water stations along the route are a blessing, there’s a certain satisfaction in maintaining one’s stride, facilitated by my reliable Karrimor X-Duo Bottle Belt. I believe it’s all about sustaining that momentum! Therefore, avoiding any stops make a big difference for me.

Let’s delve into the crucial component — the shoes. I adorned the Puma Electrify Nitro 2 during my run. These shoes, in essence, are like clouds for my feet — a perfect amalgamation of comfort and an unparalleled grip. Absolutely loved it and I felt no pain on my sole even after the run. I couldn’t wait to bring them onto the next challenge.

Now, let’s dissect the numerical aspect. The clock stopped at 1 hour and 13 minutes for the 10km run, with my trusty sports watch serving as the custodian of vital stats. Yes, this are very amateurish stats, but the pride radiates nonetheless. 🏃‍♂️ My newfound goal? To crush that 10km in less than 40 minutes. With another 10km challenge beckoning in January, a span of 7 weeks awaits for meticulous preparation. Can the elusive 40-minute mark be conquered? The answer lies in the unfolding chapters of this saga — stay tuned.
